![]() ![]() Daniels taught returning veterans at the American Theatre Wing, which created a useful workshopping opportunity for his wife – the vets needed female actors to play opposite, and Mundy was a regular volunteer. Mundy’s second husband (out of four) was Marc Daniels, who after their divorce would move to Hollywood and direct for I Love Lucy and Star Trek. Steichen, Horst, Irving Penn, and Richard Avedon all photographed her. She became one of Manhattan’s most busiest models during the forties – mainly for Vogue, although Look put Mundy and Lisa Fonssagrives, aligned in a Persona-esque pose, on its Janucover. When Mundy was 19, the legendary modeling agent John Robert Powers told her that she was no beauty, “but I bet you photograph well.” Regal, almost icy – “in looks, she suggests a cross between Jeanne Eagels and Jessica Tandy (which isn’t bad looking),” wrote George Jean Nathan – Mundy had the kind of classy air that was perfect for formalwear and fashion magazines. Mundy’s death came eight days after her 101st birthday.Ī multi-talented beauty from a musical family, London-born Mundy was a soloist with the New York Philharmonic and a chorus girl in several Broadway shows in the late thirties. Meg Mundy, an actress with extensive film and theater credits who earned her greatest fame late in her career as a soap opera villainess, died on January 12 in an assisted living facility in the Bronx, according to her only son, Sotos Yannopoulos. Here is the episode where Julie Forrest dies. I read that a year later she died of a drug overdose. Ginger Gerlach was pretty memorable in that role. I'll miss her stirring up trouble at Hope Memorial. Clearly, she was going to make life hell for Rico. Julie's sinister smile after she further tore her dress chilled me. The scenes are nowhere as compelling as these. The only daytime soap that I bother to watch sometimes is TBATB and they play muzak in the background. That's what's missing from today's soaps. At first I thought Rico was going to give in and kiss Julie, but when he left and she started up the stairs,I figured something bad was going happen when she saw Greta with her collection. I loved the look on Julie's face as she taunted Rico and she relished in the fact that she was going to destroy his life. The episode had me on the edge of my seat throughout and the following episode as well done, too, especially with the music as Greta stored her stolen goods in the closet. I knew about Julie's demise but I had no idea that it would happen in this episode…well, her fall down the stairs anyway. ![]() I was excited I got to see the showdown between Julie Forrest and Rico Bellini before Julie's demise. ![]()
